Time to have our faith in action!
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:1-2
In January, we could not meet on the second Sunday because of the snow ban on the street in Quincy. Even though I was not happy that we could not meet, but I thanked God that none of our members were in trouble because of the snow. I hope it doesn’t happen in this winter anymore.
As all our congregation knows that we had a big trouble with our boiler system. Hence, I have requested all of you to pray to the LORD for the following:
- To keep the boiler running until we are ready to replace
- To provide us the fund to replace it
Our LORD has answered our prayers. With the hard work of our Trustee Committee and Jeff, the boiler is still running. Moreover, our LORD sends us the sufficient fund to replace it after we started praying together. Thank you all for your prayer. We are very encouraged and assured that our LORD answers our sincere and urgent prayer.
We also discussed about ‘the faith in the LORD’ and ‘the positive thinking.’ The outcome may look similar, but the source of power is different. One is from the LORD, the other is from I. We can exercise the faith with the humble mind in the LORD, but the positive thinking starts from “I can do it, I am great, I am strong, and so on.” Who is greater? Of course, out LORD is the almighty God. If He is on our side, then we shall not fear anything. Let’s continue to have the faith in the LORD, so that we can have the abundant life in Christ.
After the discussion, one of our members pointed me out that “the faith may not work until we put the faith into practice.” Yes, I absolutely agree with her. We may not be able to experience the answer unless we put the faith into practice. When we prayed for the church boiler, God answered right away. But, it might not work until our members spent time and labor for the boiler in Christ.
As we had the Annual Meeting, let’s continue to build our church together by serving each other and the community faithfully. Let’s demonstrate that we are ‘the people called out from the world’ not ‘of the world.’ That is the source of the power of our Brothers and Sisters to glorify God!
In Christ, -Pastor David
