His Love Is Completed in Us

We have started the New Year by praying for the blessings of the Holy God. We all want God’s abundant blessings because that leads us to live a victorious life in Christ. It is possible only by practicing the faith in our everyday life powered by the Holy Spirit.

I am so excited to see what our Lord will do to the community through our church this year. As we pray and share the love of Christ with the people around us, we can change the community. For that, we have to arise and shine Christ in this ungodly world by practicing the faith in our everyday life. While we can build the faith by praying, reading and meditating the Word of God, we can practice the faith by loving one another in Christ.

For that, Apostle John said, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:11) He is telling us that we ought to love one another. That means we cannot love naturally. We need to work it out intentionally and sacrificially.

I would like to share a love story which may fit well for this subject.

One day at work, Amanda received a beautiful flower bouquet. In it, she counted 11 flowers and found a short note in it. It was written in beautiful lettering and said:

“My love for you will last until the day the last flower in this bouquet dies.”

The note was from her husband who had gone on a business trip. Unsure as to what to make of the message, she went home in the evening and soaked the flowers with water. One day after another, the flowers became a little less beautiful until they all died. All but one flower. This was the day when she realized that there was one artificial flower in the bouquet that would last forever.

Isn’t it a beautiful story? The husband and wife try to keep up their love and share the powerful message. I personally don’t like the artificial flower, but we know the natural one doesn’t last long. The lesson from the story is that we need to put the artificial (intentional) effort to keep up our love in Christ. That’s why John continues:

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us. This is how we know that we live in Him and He is in us: He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 John 4:12-13)

As a Baptist, let’s obey the Great Commission of Jesus Christ by sharing the Gospel to the end of the world. For that, let’s demonstrate the love of Christ each other first and share the overflowing love to our neighbor and beyond. I pray that everyone has this abundant love and blessings in the name of Jesus!! Amen.
